Construction Citizen’s Elizabeth McPherson visited a jobsite to learn about the in-house welding program at S & B Engineers and Constructors. Construction Manager Ben Sims said that the school was created to reinvest in employees such as Luis Valdovinos because “this is the right thing to do.” Valdovinos is a Welding Foreman and Instructor at S & B who started working for the company three years ago as a pipefitter helper. He said “Once I became a welder, everything changed.” Read more at ConstructionCitizen.com

"The Joker Goes to School", a first-season episode of the Batman television series, first aired on ABC March 2, 1966 as its 15th episode, with an encore telecast occurring on August 10, 1966. this little guy has been roaming the school which we're working on for about 2 months eating what it can find on jobsite. with the school reaching its final days of construction. we had to work fast to catch it after working a 8 hour shift, there was no better way to end the work day. there's was possibility it would've been trapped behind the walls or ceilings until it met it's death! so thankfully we got it out and released it to wild (aka the city lol)

Few programs are as important to the construction industry as training, and no one trains carpenters like the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. For over 100 years, the UBC has developed and improved training programs to develop well-rounded, skilled crafts workers who have built America. The New England Carpenters Union offers a 4-year apprenticeship program created to thoroughly develop the talents and skills of up-and-coming carpenters. The apprenticeship program is a combination of classroom learning and job site employment. Apprentices attend classes for 1 week every 3 months at the New England Carpenters Training Center in Millbury, MA. Apprentices also learn the trade by working under the guidance of skilled workers, called journeymen. By completing the nearly 6,000 hours of work ex...
